Day 1, Monday, August 23 –
Mackinac Island lies offshore of Michigan in Lake Huron. The
tour begins by traveling east across the states of Minnesota and
Wisconsin. By mid-afternoon we arrive at Rib Mountain State
Park for a “birds-eye” view of the beautiful valley below.
Tonight we stay in Marinette, Wisconsin across the river from
Michigan. (L)
Day 2, Tuesday, August 24 -
After an included breakfast our routing will take us along the water
of Green Bay in Upper Michigan, into the woods to Palm Book State
Park and Kitch-Iti-Kipi Spring. This is an oval
spring-fed pool 300 feet by 175 feet and 40 feet deep. We board a
pontoon for a ride to the middle of the pool to view fish and the
bubbling springs. A noon meal is included in Manistique before
traveling through Upper Michigan and across the “Strait of Mackinac”
by way of the “Big MAC Bridge”. Upon our arrival in Mackinac City,
our group and luggage board a ferry to Mackinac Island. No
motorized vehicles are allowed on the island so the only road noise
you hear is the clip clop of horses’ hooves. Our hotel is in the
downtown area, on the shores of Lake Huron. The evening is free to
shop and buy fudge. (B) (L)
Day 3, Wednesday, August 25 -
This morning we climb aboard horse-drawn carriages that pull up to
the front porch of our hotel to begin our tour of Mackinac Island.
At noon our group arrives at the Grand Hotel for their Grand
Buffet. After eating as much as we can hold off the 50 foot buffet
we walk to the ferry dock to return to the main land. Our coach will
be waiting to bring us to our accommodations in Marquette, Michigan.

we arrive in Bayfield, Wisconsin, the Gateway to the Apostle
Islands. Our coach is driven aboard a ferry and we cruise to the
largest of the Apostle Islands – Madeline Island. A
local guide joins us for an included noon meal and island tour. Late
afternoon we return to the mainland and travel to Duluth, Minnesota.

Day 5, Friday, August 27 -
