Day 1, Wednesday, July 7 Our Canadian Rockies Tour begins by traveling west across the vast plains of North Dakota. Noon Lunch is included in Grand Forks, ND and mid-afternoon finds us walking the wooden sidewalks at the Geographical Center Museum in Rugby. This is a re-created 19th century village that tells the story of hardy pioneers through exhibits and displays. This evening we stay in Minot, ND. (L)

Day 2, Thursday, July 8 The past few years we’ve been doing AMTRACK! Everyone loves it! Our driver and coach will leave us in Minot to dead head to Shelby. After our coach shuttles us to the AMTRACK station we board a railroad coach to travel west to Shelby, Montana. You have a choice of sitting in the dome car, eating in the dining car or snack bar, reading, relaxing and watching the world go by. Early this evening we arrive to Shelby and to our accommodations for the night. (B)

Day 3, Friday, July 9 Early morning we leave for Canada, the Calgary Stampede and the Chuckwagon Races. This event is the most popular tourist attraction in Calgary. Millions of people turn out to experience a bit of Cowboy Culture. You’ll have the afternoon to enjoy the midway, food, and entertainment, before taking seats in the bleachers for the Chuckwagon races. After the races you’ll enjoy the Young Canadians, a top entertainer, and fireworks. Tonight we stay in Calgary. (B) (L)

Day 4, Saturday, July 10 Traveling west the rolling foothills give way to the towering Canadian Rockies. We enter the gates of Banff National Park and are soon in the Banff Townsite. Your tour director will show you the highlights of this popular resort village. We have time to shop a little before turning north and traveling on the Icefield Parkway. Picture stops will be made at Lake Louise, scenic overlooks, and for all wild animals. Tonight we unpack for a two-night stay at The Crossing where our motel is circled by majestic mountains! (B)

Day 5, Sunday, July 11 - High in the Rocky Mountains lay rivers of ice with the largest being the Columbia Icefield. Many glaciers jut off the icefield, but the Athabasca Glacier is the most assessable. A huge snow coach brings us onto the glacier allowing you to walk on the cold ice and taste the glacial water. Our day continues traveling the scenic Columbia Icefield Parkway to Jasper Townsite where time is allotted to walk the streets and shop, while being surrounded by the beautiful mountain scenery. Early evening we return to our accommodations along the parkway. (B) (L)

Day 6, Monday, July 12 - Traveling south between the mountains, we follow the turquoise rivers and green forests into British Columbia, and continue to Kimberly, BC. This Bavarian City is tucked into a valley surrounded by mountains. We have free time to eat and shop in the Plazel before continuing south into the United States. Late afternoon brings us to our simple rooms in White Fish, Montana. The evening is free to take a hike or enjoy the scenery. (B)

Day 7, Tuesday, July 13 This morning we board 25 passenger buses at the Apgar Visitor Center and travel over the Going to the Sun Highway to the Rising Sun. Picture stops are made at Logan’s Pass and other scenic overlooks. Rustad’s Motorcoach will meet us at the end of the road with picnic lunches. Late afternoon we arrive in Great Falls, Montana. (B) (L)

Day 8, Wednesday, July 14 Our coach rolls east through ranching country where we see herds of cattle, sheep and antelope feeding on the hilly grasslands. Arriving in Medora, North Dakota we have just enough time to check into our motel and freshen up before heading out of town to the Pitchfork Fondue. After a delicious steak dinner (cooked on a pitchfork) we have tickets for western entertainment at the Medora Musical. (B) (L) (D)

Day 9, Thursday, July 15 We begin the day at the Chuckwagon for a cowboy sized breakfast, then leave for home. After stopping to look over the North Dakota Badlands of Teddy Roosevelt National Park, we travel east on I-94. Rest stops will be made en-route and soon you’ll be home with many happy memories.
